The drive is simply scenic from Kathmandu with a change from the city buzz to country quiet life. The drive leads through terraced farmland, lush forests, and villages with views of rural Nepalese life.

Salleri is the district headquarters of the Solu district, also considered to be the gateway or entry point to the Everest region. You will check into the lodge refresh yourself and spend the rest of the day getting ready for the trek. For the first time, a serenity envelops around, and the freshness of the mountain air in Salleri will introduce you to your first feel of the Himalayan adventure that is going to unfold.

Today, you'll continue by road, driving on a rough road to Paiyan Village. This village lies at an altitude of 2,730 meters, with views all around of surrounding mountains.

The drive goes deeper into the heart of the Khumbu region; you start to get glimpses of more traditional Sherpa cultures and serene beauty of the Himalayas. Paiyan is a great village for acclimatization, spending the night, and resting really well before starting to hike upwards the following day.

From today, it's all downhill to Phakding via Paiyan. The trail drops steeply through rhododendron and pine forests, with spectacular views of rivers far below, until you cross a suspension bridge over a river.

You will then follow an easy path, contouring around the sides of hills, with views down to the Dudh Kosi River far below, ultimately reaching the nice camp on the banks of this same river at 2,610 meters: Phakding. Here you spend the night in a teahouse, getting a good night's rest for the climb to Namche Bazaar.

The most exciting part of today's journey is the trek to Namche Bazaar. The trail rises gently, and then after a series of steep uphills, it gives you a view of the Himalayas with glimpses of Mount Everest.

You will cross several high suspension bridges, then pass through the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park, and then finally reach Namche Bazaar, considered to be the gateway to the Everest region. Namche is a well-known bazaar town of the Sherpas, full of life at an altitude of 3,440 meters. This will be your overnight camp for this day.

Today is the day for acclimatization at this altitude. You can either have a self exploration of Namche Bazaar, roam around the local market, or it's time for an uphill hike to some viewpoint, for instance, Everest View Hotel (3,880 meters), where you could see breathtaking panoramic views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.

Alternatively, attend the Sherpa Museum or Hillary School in Khumjung. It's a relaxed day, just soaking up local culture and letting your body get used to the high altitude.

Today, the hike is from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860 meters), with one of the most vital monasteries in the Khumbu region. The trail both rises and drops, but incredible views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam come out through the way.

As one approaches Tengboche, there will await the famous sight of the Tengboche Monastery, set against a backdrop of towering peaks. The monastery is the spiritual focus for the Sherpas, and there may be a chance for one to see the prayer ceremony.

Leaving Tengboche, you will hike to Dingboche, another picturesque town at an elevation of 4,410 meters. The trail dips through the woodland before crossing the Imja Khola River. As we go uphill, the landscape becomes more bleak and the air becomes thinner.

Dingboche is sometimes referred to as the "summer valley" of the Everest region since its climate is slightly milder than the rest of the Everest region. This town provides the best views along the valley of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Island Peak. You'll remain here tonight to prepare for the greater altitude trek.

Today you will gradually ascend 4,940 meters walking from Dingboche to Lobuche. The trail makes a gentle ascent through alpine meadows, passing by memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest.

Besides, the higher the altitude is, the wilder the land and the colder. Lobuche is a very small settlement ringed by towering peaks, dramatic mountain vistas. You will stay overnight here, preparing for the big, hard day of trekking to Everest Base Camp next day.

From Namche Bazaar, you will drop down to Surke village. Although this is all downhill, there are some steep parts of the trail that need careful footing. You will feel the rising warmth and greenness of the landscape as you go downhill.

Situated at an altitude of 2,535 meters, Surke is a peaceful village where you stay overnight, recollecting the great journey you have experienced in the Himalayas. The day is a downhill slide to low-level altitudes, hence serene conclusions to your trekking adventure.

The day will start by descending from Surke to Paiyan village, taking in this tranquil beauty of the Himalayan landscape one last time. It is of medium length and offers ample opportunity to soak in the lush green surroundings and to look back upon the path traversed.

Paiyan will signal your transition from trekking to driving as you board a vehicle for the scenic drive back to Salleri. Drive back once again over ground you traveled earlier with a last look at the breathtaking views and endearing villages that characterize this part of Nepal. Once more, drive back to Salleri, staying overnight and relaxing in your lodge from the strenuous trek.
