There are only a few places in the mountains where you can exchange your currency, but they offer very low conversion rates. So, before leaving the city, exchange your currency.

Most teahouses (lodges) along the trail serve a delicious selection of largely vegetarian meals. Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, daal Bhat (rice and lentils), bread, soup, fresh veggies (seasonal variety), and even some sweets such as apple pies, pancakes, and some unique custard tries.

Many larger villages may provide meat on their menus. Hot chocolate, tea, and hot lemon drinks are always readily available as are soft drinks and snacks such as chocolate and chips. Every day, dinner and breakfast will be served at the lodge where you will stay, while lunch will be served on the route to your destination.

If one is accustomed to drinking regularly and has been doing so on previous treks, it would be advisable to keep intake to a minimum. However, we strongly discourage drinking alcohol in the elevated areas above 4,000 meters.

In Kathmandu, we offer stays in standard rooms in tourist categories or 3-star hotels, where you will start your morning by having a delectable breakfast already there.

Teahouses and lodges offering clean facilities, foam mattresses, and warm quilts or blankets will add charm to your trek. Sleeping bags may be provided by us if you need them, but having your personal gear is always better; it would be returned after your trip.

Accommodations can range from single and double rooms, sometimes even dorms. Food can also vary from bonfires under the stars to substantial meals prepared in the kitchens of the teahouses. Remember, it is considered politeness to ask permission before entering the kitchen area.

Although the amenities are modest, there is a sense of adventure in the air. The outside toilets add to the experience, offering only the essential facilities amongst nature's cares. Be prepared to be engulfed by the beauty of the Himalayas both on the trail and at every stop.

We encourage you much that you do take insurance for any of the trekking routes in Nepal. In mountains, uncertainties are always there, especially when you are climbing a high altitude. Helicopter evacuation may be needed at times in case of emergency, and without insurance, this will be too costly for anyone. Please get the good insurance company and do have a peace of mind while trekking.

We provide one porter to look after two guests, so you are guaranteed personalized attention during your trek. Our porters are super strong and capable, but we take their care into full consideration by letting them carry no more than 30 kgs. This considerate treatment not only guarantees your comfort but also ensures that our porters do their job safely and in the most effective manner.

As English is a worldwide language, we appoint qualified English-speaking guides for hiking, tours, and sightseeing. If you want a native language-speaking guide, you can hire one for an extra fee.

It also depends on the kind of fitness our clients have: we try to trek 5-6 hours per day if the customers are young and moderately fit. However, we go very slow in case our customers happen to be elderly or if they have problems in walking for a long time.

Everest Region: Everest Region consists of a rich populace mainly Sherpa and Rai ethnic groups, which are also considered to be the main mountaineering ethnic groups around the globe. Sherpas are famous worldwide because of their impressive abilities to conquer the highest peaks in the world.

Annapurna Region: This region is mainly dominated by several ethnic groups out of which Gurungs are in the majority.

Langtang Region: Tamang culture dominates the major people inhabiting this region.

Mustang: The two most dominant groups of the Mustang Region are Thakali and Bhote.

Manaslu: Manaslu's ethnicity includes Gurung, Magar, and Brahmin in the lower regions and Gurung and Bhote at the high altitudes.

Some of the trekking routes, like Everest Region, sometimes offer a thrilling opportunity to sight wild animals. Imagine yourself passing through these most rugged landscapes and sighting lovely wildlife-the Himalayan Goat, Musk Deer, and Blue Sheep. Absolutely no problem! The lodges mainly serve yummy vegetarian dishes. We highly recommend that our customers have them to avoid problems with their stomachs or other complaints about the food.

It quintessentially means one must consume light and nourishing meals high above the altitude to make trekking comfortable. Vegetarian fare ensures minimal chances of food poisoning and hence keeps the stomach friendly amidst breathtaking landscapes.

Although it is totally up to you, it must be mentioned that guides and porters in the tourism business do expect a token of appreciation, however small. Shikhar Adventure recommends tipping your guide and porter around 10 percent of the overall trip fee. Not only does this encourage them, but it also builds a better relationship and respect for the utmost assistance they provide during your trip.
