Pokhara is the gateway to the Annapurna region. The city sits on the shores of Phewa Lake, and the sunrise viewpoint at Sarangkot, just above it, looks straight onto Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and the fishtail summit of Machapuchare. Most Annapurna treks begin within a short drive of town.
