Weddings, Yoga & Festival Treks

Some trips to Nepal are built around a moment: a wedding in a mountain village, a morning yoga practice facing Annapurna, or masked dances in a Sherpa monastery courtyard. These four trips combine a trek or village stay with something to celebrate or take part in. We plan everything around your date and your group, so you can focus on the occasion.

Himalayan Wedding Packages

We offer two wedding trips in the Annapurna region. Both include the planning, the ceremony setting and the celebration afterwards, along with the travel and accommodation for you and your guests.

Wedding at Ghandruk Village

Ghandruk is a stone-built Gurung village at 2,012 m, facing Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. On the Wedding at Ghandruk Village package, you drive up from Pokhara, spend a day preparing with the village, and marry in a ceremony that can follow your own traditions, Nepali customs or a mix of both. Couples often dress in traditional Gurung clothing, and the evening ends with local music and dancing.

Ghandruk is reached by road and needs no trekking, so it works for guests of every age and fitness level. It's also one of the few wedding destinations in the Himalaya that you can plan for almost any time of year.

Wedding at Annapurna Base Camp

For couples who want to say their vows surrounded by glaciers and 7,000 m peaks, the Wedding at Annapurna Base Camp combines a four-day trek with a ceremony at 4,130 m. We arrange a celebrant and decorations at base camp. After the ceremony, a helicopter flies you back to Pokhara for an evening celebration.

Everyone in the wedding party needs reasonable fitness for the trek, so this suits couples whose guests enjoy hiking. Spring and autumn give the best chance of clear skies for your photos.

Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek

The Annapurna Base Camp Yoga Trek follows the route from Ghorepani and Poon Hill up into the Annapurna Sanctuary, with yoga practice built into every day. A certified yoga teacher travels with the group alongside our mountain guide. Each morning starts with a sunrise session, and evenings include stretching, breathing exercises and meditation.

The breathing work isn't just for relaxation. Slow, controlled breathing helps many trekkers cope better with the thinner air as you climb toward base camp at 4,130 m. You don't need previous yoga experience, but you do need good stamina, as walking days run from five to eight hours.

Mani Rimdu Festival with EBC Trek

Mani Rimdu is the biggest festival of the year in the Khumbu, held at Tengboche Monastery below Ama Dablam and Everest. Monks in elaborate masks and robes perform dances that represent the victory of Buddhism over evil spirits, with drums, horns and chanting filling the courtyard. Sherpa families travel from villages across the region to attend.

The Mani Rimdu Festival with EBC Trek times your Everest trip so you spend three days at Tengboche during the festival, then continue to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. The days at Tengboche also help with acclimatisation before you go higher. The festival follows the Tibetan lunar calendar and usually falls in October or November, so the departure date changes each year.

When Is the Best Time to Go?

  • Ghandruk wedding: possible year-round, though October to November and March to April give the clearest mountain views.
  • Annapurna Base Camp wedding and yoga trek: March to May or September to November.
  • Mani Rimdu: fixed by the festival dates, usually in October or November.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a wedding in Nepal legally binding?

Our wedding packages are ceremonial celebrations rather than legal registrations. Most couples complete the legal paperwork in their home country before or after the trip, then celebrate in Nepal. Contact us if you'd like advice on your situation.

Can our families and friends join the wedding?

Yes. The Ghandruk wedding suits guests of all ages, since the village is reached by road. For the Annapurna Base Camp wedding, guests need to be able to trek for several days at altitude. We can plan separate itineraries for guests who prefer to wait in Pokhara.

Can we have a ceremony from our own culture or religion?

Yes. We can arrange a ceremony that follows your own traditions, Nepali or Gurung customs, or a combination. Tell us what you'd like and we'll plan it with you.

Do I need yoga experience for the yoga trek?

No. Sessions suit beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Trekking fitness matters more, as you'll be walking for five to eight hours on most days.

When is Mani Rimdu this year?

The dates change every year with the lunar calendar, but the festival usually takes place in October or November. Contact us for this year's confirmed dates and departure.
