Sun Bahadur Nepali grew up in Pokhara, where he could always see the Annapurna and Machapuchare mountains. The mountains weren't just something he saw; they were part of his daily life. He loved exploring the hills and trails near his home, listening to elderly hikers tell stories, and watching people fall in love with his city from a young age.
He worked abroad for almost 10 years, like many young Nepalis. There, he learnt how to be disciplined, patient, and flexible in all kinds of settings. But he never completely lost the lure of home and the mountains.
When he got back to Nepal, he thought it was right for him to join the hiking scene. Sun Bahadur has been leading travelers from all over the world for the past 12 years, mostly in the Annapurna region, which he knows like the back of his hand. He can tell you which trail has the best view of the sunrise, which village has the best tea house, and the legends behind the peaks you can see.
People who have hiked with him say he is honest, works hard, and really cares about their safety and enjoyment. He does more than just take you from one place to another. He adds to the fun with jokes, stories, and quiet times that you'll remember long after the tour is over.
He joined Shikhar Adventure in 2023. He had been riding for years and loved the woods where he grew up. There are still pictures of him today, slowly bringing groups into the mountains and making sure everyone stays on track. He shows off Nepal's beauty and friendliness in a way that only someone who grew up here can.
